Zee Gas Man

I am going for new role in the company and part of the role will be to drive to any area south of Birmingham and do gas rates on cookers/hobs/range's. My question is does the cv of gas need to change in each area for calculation?

also i know from talking to other engineers they have different methods of calculating, if anyone would care to share it would be appreciated.

cheers,Zee

Why do you have to travel miles to do gas rates on cookers ? and if it's wrong what do you have to do about it ? run a new gas supply ? cv stays the same, how did you used to work out the rates ? Get your self a gas rate slide rule and a decent stop watch,

m3per hourx10.775! how hard is it. ask for their gas bill if you want to check the cv, can vary over the companies hence why they show it

just get a decent app for your phone the slight variations in cv aint going to be a factor how accurate you finger is on the start button will have more effect
and hope to get all metric meters youl be ages on small dual fuels with a dial

If this is a new role in the company for you, what do you normally do ? have you ever worked with gas ?

You won't know the CV of the gas you are burning, it will appear on the customers gas bill in 3 months time, but could be different from the current gas bill, think back to your training, we all use a standard figure in the calculations,
On metric meter take 2 readings and multiply by 30, if you want to check the HI take two readings and multiply by 321 that's more than close enough, as said above you are more likely to be inaccurate starting/stopping the stop watch

I have been working for about two years but i only have ckr1 and cpa1, i normally instal 5/8 appliances a day 5/6 days a week. But i have been offered an auditing role and am taking it serious :D

Thanks guys, i appreciate the info. Specially the 321 calculation very handy ;)

5/8 a day?! Suddenly I don't feel so bad!

Whats gas pal?
Something that go's bang if you get it wrong,, Just wounding why you have to go round gas rating cookers after they have been fitted ? would this not have been done on installation ? are these your company's own cookers ? final question have you been having problems
(complaints) about these cookers and you have to check gas supply's.

All large businesses should have auditing of a selection of work, including statutory gas checks.
