Hi everyone, Hope someone can help as I am sinking in escalating probs:( Friend fitted new kitchen tap for me couple of weeks ago, water only came out in a trickle so he suggested a pump which would also help shower flow. He fitted a large pump which rendered shower too hot to use even at coldest and no improvement with tap. Found out this was due to tap needing higher pressure ( 1.5 bar ) to operate, mine being a low pessure system, so had pump removed.

Following me so far?? Thanks;)

Probs now left with, shower only running cold ( stangely other shower in house ok ) One radiator downstairs totally cold, next one only tepid and one toliet unable to flush without high pressure forcing out everwhere:eek:

Any suggestions ( please try to keep to constuctive replys, he was trying to help me out ) would be great, do realise i'm prob going to have to call in the pro's ;-)

you have many problems!

was everything okay, before the pump was installed ?

are both the showers electric ?

do you have a combi or system boiler ?

answer them questions, and we will take it from there.

hi shaun, only prob was tap, neither shower is electric and it's a traditional type boiler system.
Thank you for interest

he probabley connected the pump incorrectly to your existing system, causing overpressure damage to the described appliances. your broken shower could be designed for low pressure - sounds like it needs replacing.

dont think that could of upset your heating system, try bleeding them, and then turning dow slightly the radiators that are working.

Is it possible your fried has in advertently drained your heating. Can you answer the following questions.

How many tanks are in your loft? The answer I am looking for is two, one big one (cold Water) and one small one (heating). Confirm this either way and we can take it from there. There are a few low pressure systems your's may not be conventional.

Hi Shaun, sounds about right for shower dam-it, have already bled radiators and turned others down with no sucess. could it be a 'manifold prob' ??
Thanks
Alison

Hi, All other radiators are hot though!! two water tanks in loft.
Thanks Alison

the heating is seperate to the work he has carried out. unless like above he has inadveretingly drained heating dont see how this is possible, cartridge maybe damged in shower depending on whether shower is fitted into wall tiles etc will determine whether it needs replacing or fixing (depends which is more cost effective)

Are you sure the rads were working fine before and you have not noticed and checked everything since the problems. i wouldnt say its a problem with manifold in pipe work, as its worked fine. Have you tried turning off the working rads and opening the cold ones fully one by one, seeing if you can get heat through them that way? has the system been flushed recently (cleaned etc).

i wouldn't be suprised if he has 't'd of from the heating circuit!

OMG what does that mean. Didn't mention, also replaced a radiator in kitchen !!!!

Hi, It worked, thank you so much. Turned off all 16 radiators and cold one now hot, what do i do now ??

Ok. results so far. Start turning the radiators on hopefully it's sorted could of been an airlock. As far as the shower goes it sound like the valve wasn't suited to a pump. Do you know the make & model.

hi, have done that and now next one along is cold, plumbing is driving me mad!!!

You have air in that circuit. You either open the bleed valve until the rad starts to get warm holing a suitable container to catch the water. Or disconnect a valve and open it into a bucket to get the water flowing. Go for the bleed valve it'll take a while but should work.
