Just fitted a danfoss 3port, head doesn't come attatched.

Found head only fits on the valve one way (as you would expect)

head stated: b, hot water and pointed right, and said, a, heating and pointed left.

However valve contradicted this and "a" was printed on the body pointing right, same as hot water.

I think they must have made a mistake in the factory and printed the wrong letters on the valve, cant see that it will matter, just never come across this and made me think.:confused:

I thought the danfoss heads can go either way! Always difficult to picture when not in front of you :)

ahhh dont say that! I dont think it can, it has a semi circle on the body and head so I put it the way you would think it would go,
U got me thinking now though!
left it with head pointing the right way, hot water on right hand side pointing to cylinder and valve body with letter on the wrong side, i.e h pointing to cylinder.

I always thought B was hot water ... I use to associate it with 'bath' for hot water  And the wire outlet has always been on the heating circuit side! Is the diverter body the wrong way around? What's the custards issue?

Thats how i remember it, b for bath.
Im hoping its fixed now, old valve was bypassing
The old valve was identical just had letters on the correct side, I'm thinking they messed up in the factory, hope I dont have to go back and do it again with a different valve.

The body would appear the wrong way round (because letters are facing wrong way), head appears the correct way round, if you flipped body over and left head the correct way round, the letters on the body would be upside down which is the other way to the one I removed, strange.

If either's on the wrong way you'll soon know about it! Maybe the guy who made the cast was having an off day .lol

Danfoss heads will fit either way round. I've done it wrong in the past

OW WOT! didnt know that, so what will happen if the body is the wrong way around but the head is the correct way round? u sure about that mike?

Was different to the one that came out as well, letters were on the other side of the body to the one that came out.

what would it do on a vented system pump over? work the wrong way around?

It certainly wouldn't do what you want it to that's for sure :) ... I think the danfoss has a couple of spring loaded paddles inside if i remember right! They'd be totally out of sync and will be in some weird position!

What the hells the point in having a valve that will fit either way? seems stupid, i lined the spindle up with the semi circle on the head as well thinking it would be the correct way round. Be well annoyed if ive gotta go and drain it again:banghead:

Just went and got the old danfoss 3port off the van, the head will definitly only fit one way round on that one, think the new one was slightly different though, cant remember.

We used to fit these on warmfront jobs and they definitely fitted either way. It's just a case of spinning the head round though, no drain down needed.

ut the trouble is i fitted port a to hw and b to htg so i think i will have to drain down if its not just a case of them stamping the wrong letters on in the factory.
Spoke to customer today they didnt say anything about it.

You may well get away with it then as the spindle in the valve body will spin all the way round. Sounds like 2 wrongs have made a right in your case.

I hope so lol, see what you mean by 2 wrongs as well. I no the old one I removed definitly wouldnt let you put the head on more than one way but i think like yoiu say you can on the new one.
