Has anyone out there got a practical, affordable method of de-sludging central heating systems?
I've tried everything. I've hired four different makes of powerflush machines, I've tried all the makes of detergent, I've fitted three different types of magnetic filter but I always come back to thinking it's quicker to take the rads out into the garden with a rubber hammer and hosepipe. I've yet to come across a method that really works better.

No.......one dribble on the carpet and the missus / customer would have you. Cheapest mains flush best full power flush with appropriate chemicals and experience

Towel. Take then outside and give them a good bang and flush. Can't beat turning one upside and agitating it.

Ive a bad back so lots of de sludger, vibrating drill head and drain down and flush after a week in system, forget all those heavy rads and power flushing machines.

Got to agree with Howsie. Take them off and get the hose on them. It's abit more hassle but worth it once it's done. Once you've done that then add cleaner to the system, allow to work and then flush through. Inhibitor. Done.

Taking rads outside is great for that part of the system, you still have to clean the rest of the system of course.
