Hi folks.
I’ve been asked to remove a toilet within a cafe but the cold feed disappears into the wall. I’m concerned about the dead leg as I can’t see how much pipe is actually there.
I’ve checked the regs and it just states it’s advisable to remove completely wherever possible and that’s it really.

I don’t fancy running the risk of any contamination as it’s in a cafe.

Best to advise cutting the wall open to remove would you say?

Cheers

I don’t have a copy of the current regs, but it‘s always been explained to me remove where practicable, but no stub/stop end is to be greater than twice the diameter of the pipe, so 15mm pipe for example, no greater than 30mm.

Where practical so just do you best if it disperses into a wall just cap off close

Thanks for replying.

Thats how I interpreted the regs also. Cut out if possible, if not as far back as you can.

Which I thought was a bit weird because there could be 10 meters of dead leg in the wall.

Another reason I’ve asked is due to the toilet maybe being reinstalled at a later date.

I was worried due to it being a cafe.

Trust me there’s miles and miles of Dead legs in schools :D I’m slowly getting them out
