Hi,
We had a new bathroom fitted recently - for some unknown reason, the installers left two dead legs approx 1.5m long each on the hot and cold supply and then proceeded to install the (tiled) bathroom floor over the T-junctions.
I see from the WRAS site that they have some guidance on this:
Where water is allowed to stagnate there is a risk of contamination. Minimising this risk can be achieved by:
Completely removing redundant pipe work. Where this is not practicable the pipe should be terminated so that any ‘dead leg’ so created is no longer than twice the diameter of the pipe.
However, the way this is worded it sounds more like a recommendation than a requirement. I'm trying to find out whether I can insist that the installers come back and remove the dead legs (they claim they've done nothing wrong) - or will I need to rectify this at my own cost if I wish to do so?
