Due to modern insulation, double glazing(pilkington k 1.7 u-value) convector rads, t.r.v's etc could you not set your boffins to making combi's modulate down to lower thermal loads. 24kw's do not need 18kw for central heating and more importantly how about say 20-6 for 31kw as opposed to 24-9, heat requirements are going down while hot water demans are increasing. Just my two pence worth

Have a look at the new Ideal Logic 24 kw combie.
Modulates down to less than 5kw.

Thanks dan. But what I'm really suggesting is 24kw do not need 18kw and more importantly 31kw combi's need to be able to modulate lower. With modern heat loss reduction methods most households with 3 bedrooms or less do not need that amount for the heating.

They need a at least 24kw to give a good hot water flow rate.
On central heating the most it could deliver is 24kw, but will modulate to as low as 4.8 kw, depending on load.
So if i read right what your asking, the boiler will modulate down as you require and does what you ask for.
Unless i have missed something!

Dan

Also the rest of the range modulate lower on central heating.
24kw. min 4.8 kw
30kw. min 6.7kw
35kw. min 7.9kw

Dan, sounds good but its an Ideal and i would prefer to fit combi's that work!

Lol!
Have you seen the new Logic?
A few guys in Plymouth have started to fit them over Worcester.
Unbelievable i know, but true!
The new boiler is unlike anything Ideal have ever built.
And a 5 year warrenty out of the box.

Regards

Dan

Now that 30kw is what I want to hear, but unfortunately, I and 7 other personal friends(122 years between us) do not hold ideal in a good light. More importantly Vaillant will have to lower their standards before I leave them. Still, glad to know its started and may fit one if the heating demand is sufficiently low on a job, many thanks.
