Hi All,

Quick question for interest/debate. Who uses denso tape or similar and if you don't, what do you use instead when burying pipes in walls etc?

Only reason I ask is we've used it but the oily substance keeps coming through the wall so wondered if there was an alternative, boxing yes I know but not always an option.

Yes Kuterlite or similar plastic coated copper or at a push pvc tape on the copper pipe.

The thing is water pipes should be accessible, burying them in walls is not classed as making them accessible.

You can of course, put a conduit of some sort in the wall and thread the pipe through it, providing you can access the top and bottom of the conduit to pull the pipe out and replace it if it bursts is usually acceptable. The Water Regs will tell you.

Thanks for those, been looking at the plastic coated copper, much better option. I thought it was only non-soldered joints that had to be accessible? Soldered central heating pipes I thought would be ok providing they were adequately protected?

tubular hair felt lagging, pipe is then held in place by tub strapping ,screws and plugs. Denso tape is soo 1973,
