Denso tape question.

Hi All, hows things?

My problem is a 4" branch cemented into the wall so its literally impossible to remove. a hairline crack has appreared on the socket (away from the wall) and its letting through a very small amount of water. so my question is can i wrap it up with denso tape a coupke of times to sort it?

I only ask cos ive never actually used the stuff.
 
inside. in the basement. the drip is literally nothing. one drop fpr every 5 mins at most. just wrap it up a bit?
 
Well you could use gap fill solvent weld,it is designed to fill gaps in the plastic joints,cut into crack and apply,however why has the branch cracked,could have been dropped before fitting if so above may work,however if because of wall movement or hole through wall to small or out slightly, causing stress on fitting,the crack will slowly get worse,therefore should be replaced
Do not use denso,as will only make temp repair and meets no regs
 
Looks like it could have been there since it was fitted. there is a black mark on the pipe from where it looks like its been wet a while.

I thought denso was just for this type of thing? well ill get a better look tommorow after my joiner has made more space for me.

So how long would the denso last if i was to use it as a temp fix?

Well as long as pressure not to great and you do not get a blocked drain and no one has to pressure jet it and you go down and swear the grease round denso and fitting every few days about 83 1/2 days at 27 deg and fitting not directly in sun light

When you bodge,who knows how long it will last,all we know is that it will not last,you will forget about it,the leak will get worse and with it being a small leak,a lot of damage could be caused before anyone notices 🙁

bodge it? im just trying to see if i can put if off as im a little busy this week. cos i think im just going to have to get it replaced
 
For a short time still use gap filler,will not have all the mess that denso causes when you take out

Do not take 'bodge up' personally,we all done it until we can sort out the next day or when we can get back to job,comes under works in progress,😛,we do not leave though 🙂

No worries mate, whats the best gap filler stuff? any stuff to recomend?
 
if the branch is plastic i would use gap filling cement, if it is cast iron i would use denso, i would not use silicone for either as it will just peel off.
