Unvented indirect with direct backup

Unvented / thermal store, depends on heat source.

Actually read the question again, definitely not thermal store with direct. Unvented every time.

Unvented then. Not a great fan of thermal store.

I wouldn't recommend a vented anymore as it may cost more for the custard in the long run e.g shower pumps, system upgrades etc

Don't need shower pump with thermal store, it's still mains pressure hot water!

Or are you on about the difference between unvented and vented hot water for deirect cylinders?

I didn't say that. I just said I wasnt a fan of them

Far too complex. Pumps, heat exchangers

A direct unvented has an immersion and expansion vessel. So worst case is aprox £140

Comments?

Desrob, aye, just needed a bit more care and attention.

SimonJohns, yep I was mistakenly reading your first and second comment together, but whats £140?

Cheers.

For a replacement expansion vessel and immersion compared with possible repair costs of a thermal store

What you repairing on the thermal store? Bearing in mind where talking about direct. Blending valve? Pressure reducing valve? vs expansion vessel, pressure relief valve, temperature & pressure valve and an annual service.

I like thermal stores and I like unvented cylinders, horses for courses. You say you are not keen on the thermal stores and thats your call but it's not quite as simple as you have explained in your previous post.

I just like to give people an informed choice.

Thermal store has less to go wrong than an unvented cylinder!!!
