this sounds very simple, customer wants to disconnect his cooker at the bayonet to have a new floor vinyl fitted and then re connect it later. is he allowed to do this . im not sure my mate reckons his insurance would walk away if anything happened. ie gas leak. i have never been asked to do this in 30 odd years so im asuming most people think they are ok to do this

Yeh he can disconnect and reconnect in his own home supa,

It's all in
Safety in the installation and use of gas systems and appliances
Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998
Approved Code of Practice and guidance
too.

Give the guy a straight answer! If your removing it, plug it. Then re connect and re comission. The custard can remove and re connect , no bother.

I know he can disconnect its covered by 26/10 but I,m not sure about re-connect is that not 26/9 check flue, safetys ventilation etc

The purpose of a bayonet fitting is to allow the customer to pull out cooker, clean behind it and reattach. Is it not? Otherwise would be a straightforward standard connection!

Have a look at TB 025.
thanks to everyone who replied TB025 sums up what i was looking for thanks mike. the home owner can disconnect and reconnect a bayonet fitting on a cooker in his or her own house.
