Hi all,

My new Hotpoint dishwasher inlet hose connection looks like this https://i.*********/9UUVC2y.jpg - this is much bigger than the connection on my old dishwasher and won't fit on my existing pipework = https://i.*********/JM0odWg.jpg - does anyone know is this big connection common / typical or is it unusual / just a Hotpoint thing?

Thanks...

Hi
Yes they are a water cutout device & you can't remove it but all you need to do is replace your straight washing machine valve for one of these bent ones.

The 90 degree WM valves are a great idea and I got some from Screwfix but I usually pipe the ordinary valves vertically so no strain on hose.
I am not sure of this and I could be wrong, but check with instructions of how the connection is supposed to be installed. It might have to be installed vertically, in which case it won't suit your plumbing and will require a bit of copper piping done.
You might need a loop up and down with a straight WM valve on end pointing down.
I checked this, and think I am correct.

I think these are the only instructions - does this help?

Thanks...

Those are just very general basic instructions. There really should be a booklet with proper instructions, unless like many other things you buy nowadays you only get them online.
I am nearly certain that that DW water connection must be fitted dropping vertically.
Unfortunately your plumbing is a bit of a mess and copper pipe is too close to floor, so needs a fairly straightforward bit of plumbing to have a new pipe brought up and then bending downwards to a valve

Here is something I found from Miele DW instructions, you will need to confirm if your Hotpoint has to be the same. (the drawing shows it horizontally, but says it should be ideally vertically, but can be horizontal fitted providing the shut off valve part of hose is fitted with its hose at lowest, but I note it also all has to be at least 10" above the rest of hose) -

It is this one docs.hotpoint.eu/_doc/19511804501_GB.pdf

Any ideas please for what a plumber would charge for this (I am in Essex)?

Thanks...

You could post on the Looking for a plumber part of this forum, stating you are in Essex.

You need to ring a couple of local companies but expect to pay no less than 40 and no more than 100 for a normal working hours visit depending who you ring.
It's a simple enought job.
