Hi All,

Hope this isn’t too much of a silly question. I need help connecting my waste pipe from my dishwasher to the pipe under my sink. The pipe has three offshoots. One wider one goes to the sink and two smaller 1” pipes branch off at the side for the washer (currently connected) and now dishwasher (trying to connect) waste pipes.

The dishwasher waste pipe is too big for the hole and I understand that it wouldn’t be secure enough just shoved in there anyway, but could someone advise as to the best way to connect the dishwasher waste to this side 1” pipe? The washer has a little yellow elbow connector which traps itself inside the bit that screws into the side pipe (i’ll try to attach an image) but I can’t seem to find them anywhere and people at DIY stores don’t get what I’m on about.

Could anyone send me a link to one of these elbow connectors or suggest another means of easily attaching the waste pipe to the pipe under the sink? I’ve already tried an MA15 nozzle pipe but the bit of the nozzle that’s meant to end up screwed into the pipe under the sink is slightly too wide.

Thank you!

Carl

Hi Carl. Firstly, maybe irrelevant to you, but it is all a bit of a complicated and space consuming waste pipes and trap layout.
The bit you need might be difficult to get, but you could try getting a complete fitting with similar spigot and use it. Or replace the vertical pipe with a new one complete with 2 spigots. McAlpine are top quality.

Thanks for getting back to me, Best. Do you have any idea what that elbow part is actually called or where I might get it? I agree that the pipe layout (even from my lack of knowledge) looks a bit ridiculous! However, as i’m a tenant in the property, I’d rather keep the changes I make to a minimum.

Thanks again!

Carl

I call them elbow spigots for washing machine/ dishwasher wastes, but I see they are called simply waste hose connectors.
Here is one, but it might not fit your trap, -
FloPlast Hose Connector

Thanks - yes! Tried that one but unfortunately too big! Then tried this one McAlpine MA15 135 Degree Nozzle for Connection to 1-Inch BSP Thread - White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004R1L7S2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf but although the thread was the right size the end bit going into the pipe under the sink was slightly too wide!
