Had a call to take on a job shower tray has cracked and wants new screen ,tray and possible floor tiled as currently has lino.

They have decided what they want so they have given me an itinerary tray from B and Q ,wants a specific riser kit because most are to dear . Screen and tiles from Wickes and i need to find grout to match tile colour. The guy seemed ok to be fair but the running around before i even start .

Is it worth it doing this?

no,unless you price for the hassle factor, time is money

How about getting the customer to order & pay for all the main stuff first?
After all, they have already specified most of it!
That way less running about for you & responsibity is on their shoulders.
Or charge loads for your time.

I suggested he went to get it but no wants me to .

i may put a quotation charge in of 80 quid or something

Charge for your time, and mark up the materials. Or insist he gets the stuff, if you supply it youre also involved with the guarantee of the equipment.

Shower tray from b and q, the crowd goes noooooooooo!

Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

I'd politely decline on the bases of pour materials and hassle,
But give him a quote for you to supply your preferred tray screen excreta

80 quid on top of your normal charges won't really cover much of your extra time.
Going onto B&Q trying to find correct tray etc & pay for it might take a fair while. And you have the travel time. Then if anything missing or faulty, you get the extra bother.
Although this also applies to you getting from merchants, but they tend to deliver

Get the customer to get the lot. Then when its crap. Doesnt match or whatever else
Get them to sort it of they wont - politely decline

I wouldn't do it unless your kicking your heels, sounds to me like the guy wants the moon on a stick!!

Your doing all the running around for not a lot except a pain in the arris.

if you went to your merchant you could probably get a decent shower tray, screen excetera (not excreta :) ) than he would pay from the multiples

Tell him straight it's a days labour plus 20% on materials if you have to fetch the stuff. Money for materials and days labour up front.
