I believe that I know the answer to this question but best to get a second opinion.....
It is my intention to install a boiler into my wood burning stove to run radiators in the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. DHW and central heating (UFH) is currently and will continue to be powered by a gas condensing combi boiler.
I have looked into this on the net and can not find any information for a stove and CH only system as all the information I can find is for a DHW and CH system that incorporates a hot water tank or solar systems again incorporating a hot water tank.
My planned set up is to install a 20,000 btu boiler in the stove. 28mm flow / return pipe vertical run into a heat sink rad (bathroom) for the thermosyphon, Flow continues upward into metal headder tank in loft. The other rads are fed by a pumped 22 mm run liked to a flue stat, teed from the 28mm flow/return pipes. - No hot water cylinder!!
Can you confirm that a Hot water tank is only required for systems including DHW and the planned system is the norm or at least acceptable to current regs etc. Also if there is a better alternative method, could you let me know?
For info, I will get a Heating engineer to carry out the work but I like to research what needs doing prior so that I can get a better idea of what the project is likely to cost and what needs buying before progressing!
