Hi,

I am hoping somebody could please help me by giving me some advice on either how to fix or either who to call.

I have a Glowom boiler which I usually leave on 24hrs a day, obviously now that it is summer, I turn the CH off so that the boiler only needs to keep the water warm. There has now been a leak from the immersion tank overflow pipe - well the thinghy that has the gap in the pipe where you can see the water dripping...... so I wouldnt really classify it as a leak per se, but there was enough water to show a beautiful water mark on the lounge ceiling! I noticed that this leaking/dripping gets worse when a bath is run, or just after.

I also noticed that the boiler in the kitchen is now constantly running... obviously it is on the whole time, but it never used to sound like it was running the whole time.. it did shut down when the water was warm enough or when the CH reached the right temp.

I have also noticed that the one radiator which you cannot turn down - I think this one regulates the temperature or something as it is close to the temperature dial, seems to be warm... not hot hot, but the warmer side of warm. and the temp dial is on 0.

The immersion tank's temp is on 60C for the water as I found that my shower doesnt get warm enough if it is lower. The boiler temp has been set down to 54C...in the mean time I have a bowl catching the dripping water...

So, my question is, can I fix this myself, or should I call a plumber, gasman or an electrician out?

Any ideas would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks

Mrs Kelly

My advise is get someone Gas Qualified and you'll be sorted either way.

Is it an unvented cylinder?

From what you have described you can see water dripping through the tundish, if so make sure the guy you get in has his g3 qualification.

If you let us know where you are in the country I am sure one of the members on this forum are not far from you and you will be able to trust their pricing and judgment because if they do it wrong they will never live it down

I live in Rugby, Warwickshire... and I would appreciate a recommendation of a trustworthy person who is qualified. I can also confirm that it is an unvented cylinder and I can see the water dripping in the tundish thing..

Thanks again

well I am not that far being oxford but trust worthy qualified and recommended counts me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has your unvented cylinder been serviced/inspected every 12 months?

You could ask the same person who does this.

If you haven't been getting it serviced/inspected every year, did you know that you had to, for your own safety and because it states in the Building Regulations that you must do so.
