Hi,

I'm an engineer with BG with an NVQ Level 3 in Domestic Gas Maintenance. Can I start my own plumbing business without the NVQ 6089 qualification? Is it against the law to do plumbing work without this NVQ in plumbing?

I'd be very grateful for your help!

Isn't the 6089 the certificate showing that you have worked on site as well as the class work shop people on day release/part time do this , as I am doing the 6129 and was told that to get the fully nvq i will need to be accessed on site by a college tutor roughly 3 or 4 visit with documentation of the jobs carried out?

Just trying to figure out what the G&C codes are. You need a regulation to know them all :D

yes you need to be assessed by a college or any centre approved by the City and Guilds for that qualification.
The 6089 is the qualification to prove competance the 6129 is just the underpinning knowledge.
The 6089 is the major part of the qualification.
3 to 4 visits is usually sufficient, providing the canidate is competant if you have little practical experience get some before attempting your 6089 assessments.
