Does anyone know what tap this is and why it's leaking?

Hi

Bought a house recently with this tap in the kitchen. I have no idea what sort of tap it is! Does anyone know? The tap operates by twisting the middle section of the stem. However it has a slow leak (when in operation) from that twisting section. I have taken it apart and the seals look okay (although they may not be!). Does anyone have any ideas?

That looks like a very expensive waste of metal.
It's doomed to fail with age.

I would expect it to have 'O' ring seals above and below the twisting section, but wouldn't be surprised it it had a very expensive ceramic seal of some sort.

Although aesthetically it looks good, practically it isn't.

Not as expensive as I thought.
I'll change my statement to a cheap tap masquerading (not very well) as an expensive tap.

I was going to suggest trying a warranty claim but you can't;

"All working parts and valves are

The warranty extends to the
original purchaser only"
