So is it literally a case of drain the system of any pressure and open the system up? I thought I'd heard of a tool that you could use on a bleed point, does that exist?

Or if no towel rail, remove the blank off the top of a radiator, fit an isolating valve and piece of tube to it, then pour into funnel.

Must add, though it's not shown in this video, I always give the loop a squirt of mains water (connected up of course) to wash any inhibitor in the hose into the system.

Takes 2 mins tops.

I was surprised that he didn't do that (looked at vid before your comment!)

First time I've watched the video. It's so simple but the cans aren't cheap.

Sentinal do their own version but just as expensive.

ladder towel rail is favourite i usually add the inhibitor to the towel rail while the system is drained and close both valves then fill vent hot flush then refill check for leaks let it run a while to check theres no leaks then last thing open the valves to put the inhibitor into the system
if there no ladder rail i usuall take of the smallest rad complete with the valves tip on its side remove the vent and open the valve valve and fill rad with inhibitor close valve and replace vent leave both valves shut replace rad leave closed until last thingboth these methods are assuming you are draining the system for other work
if im adding to a filled system it bite the bullet and pay for the can or cartridge

If I'm adding to an already filled system, I use the wet vac if it's out or empty 3 ice cream tubs out of a rad so I know I'll get my litre of goodness into the system.

Litre of goodness!! LOL!!!

If it's allready filled I use the can or if I can be arsed, I put it in one of these:

and pump it in via the filling loop. Or towel rail, or rad. Depends. If there is a drain off by a rad, I might use that and just pour it in. I have a little rigg set up with a funnel ready to go.

get some 15mm copper ,pull a 90 degree bend solder a 15-22 reducer then 22-28 reducer on one end then a compression coupling on the other ,

wind the comp coupling straing into top of rad hgey presto diy dosing tube

And that will be my aforementioned rig for pouring it in!!

With a 1/2MI to comp' on the copper, so I can wind some ptfe on it and wind it into the rad.

So in short, there is more than one way to skin a cat.....but don't try them I got in loads of trouble with the RSPCA.

BOOM BOOM.

Yeah, I want one of those. It's my birthday this month. I think you should all club together and buy me one.

I agree I use mine a lot, they pay for themselves quickly in terms of time saved and reduced cost of chemicals.
