Were do I put it, by now u all now trying to tap in shed.. do I put the valve next to the tee coming of rising main in airing cuboard or shall I put it in the attic ,thanks men

I would fit an isolation valve, then the double check valve, inside somewhere which is relatively easy to access, then I would fit a drain valve on the pipework outside to the Shed so I could drain down in the winter.

I agree, keep the double check valve inside the house to avoid frost damage

Have a look here and it contains double check valve instructions. Keep all pipework, and fittings fully insulated and buy a tap cover for cold weather to protect the tap if you plan to keep it on. I advise my customers to switch it off and drain it at the first signs of heavy frost and leave it until needed the following Spring:

Many outside taps with integrated check valves I've known don't last our severe Scottish Winters and the little plastic disc inside comes apart. Best to frost protect them and fit them separately indoors.

Not had a problem with them but I'm a southern softie...

Outside tap with integrated check valves = repeat business.

Customers soon learn to protect them against the cold weather ...

don't the water regs specify the double check valve to be internal for new installations,
and only use the tap with valve for like for like replacement?
I'm sure i saw that, but now wondering.

I've read that too but do wonder why you need two check valves (one separate and one integrated).

the water regs require a double check valve to be internal, external ones break if left to freeze

thanks men some good advice,, i was a bit reluctant to buy a double cheak valve as they were so expensive 15 quid in b and q,, but went to local plumbers merchant and it was 2.40, cheap as chips,, i replaced the pipe work which i did the other day, as i just used elbows,, and looked rubbish,, so bought pipe bender.. the first cross over i made was twisted,, the second one was perfect but i mess up because i cocked up the soldering on the elbow,, which i'm still FUMING about. so i made another one which was aload of rubbish but had to use it because,, needed the water back on, but gona do it again.. sunday. so in the end i made a cross over from the commpression tee,, then soldered on elbow then fitted the double check valve,, the pipe carried on up to the loft,, 90 degree bend as the pipe entered loft to a isolation valve,, then just stuck a bit of pipe in with jg stop end for now and also safety.. also bought some of that fernox water hawk... so im getting there,, also just like to add that plumbing is alot harder and very frustrating when,, time is against u as water needs to be back on as soon as possible.. also after the iso valve gona put in solder tee, with a bit of pipe and vent valve then carry it on to the soffet... thanks men

pipeline if it's mains water you shouldn't need a vent in the pipework, not saying you can't put one in just not necessary.

i thought i needed it to let the water out,, open tap and vent,,, maybe i mean air vent,, not vent valve.. anyway stick it in anyway.. thanks
