Hi,
New to the forum and first post! Thanks in advance for any assistance with problem. Apologies also it may be a long post to provide info! I am owner of house not plumber! There have been lots of problems, plumbers now dissolved company and trading standards involved, so please be kind about what should have been done, I am trying to sort out what best to do with what I have! Plumbers employed we took references from other customers, had contract etc but all to no avail! I am very happy to have other plumbers look at the problem however I want to have more knowledge in case the wool once again is tried to be pulled over my eyes (apologies to all good plumbers!)
Background. Large house, complete renovation, new ch and hw. Unvented system with Grant Oil condensing boiler. 2 ch zones plus hw zone.
House in excess of 150m2, building regs paperwork etc all in place prior to work started so plumbers aware Part L would need adhering to.
Plumbers installed single zone system, on questioning during the work, said was not neccessary. Building reg inspector picked it up during periodic inspection for new soil pipe install. Insisted 2 zones installed. There is a Heatmiser 4 zone timer in the boiler room. A hard wired heatmiser programmable room stat for the downstairs central heating, after the building reg inspection, plumbers said could not hard wire second prog room stat for upstairs zone so have a heatmiser 2 zone wireless prog room stat upstairs with the receiver in the boiler room.
So the problem is: HW works. Upstairs heating works, downstairs heating works however the 2 zones of ch will not work together. If one is working and the second zone is switched on, the one working switches off.
Apologies if I am not explaining the situation correctly. The 4 zone timer in the boiler room the zones on the timer do not correspond with the zones annotated on the port valves. Should they?
I have spoken to Heatmiser who initially said the problem would be not have dual port valves, but having checked the valves do look like dual port. Heatmiser also said the zones on the time do not need to correspond with the valves? Also there is not a need for a 4 zone time, plus 2 prog room stats.
Is there anything obviously wrong to your knowledgeable people? Could it be a wiring issue?
Once again thanks in advance and apologies for length of first post.
