Have done more of these this week than the last 3 years combined. Love that resounding 'shlooook' sound when you clear the blockage tbh. Usually accompanies the sound of a cash register going off in my head.

Anyone else do these jobs? Do you charge much more than you regular hourly rate for plumbing?

I bought a tow along jetter last year and charge £150 for the first hour
Bought it for a dentists that have bad drains that need jetting about once every 6/8 weeks
I don't mind a bit of shyte, because as you say, it's followed by shillings

I try to avoid any blockages by all cost, usually because the people who have the blockage usually dont stop using the drains

I do some drain unblocking jobs. The vast majority of them are just a normal back up blockage due to tree roots or just something catching in the sewer pipe, so only need ordinary sewer rods and plunger and plenty of water. I tell people to let me try first, as no point in asking specialists in with their high costs to do a simple shoving of a few rods.
Can be easy money and the most, as people expect to pay a lot.

Use to do loads of them but give it a swerve now.
Was always good money tho as most people will pay good money to unblock she it as they just want it cleared.

A friend of mine tho nearly died from getting an unspecified blood infection from drain work , in and out of hospital for a year . So although it can be done quick it can also come with extreme health hazards.

Don't dyno rod have a fixed unblocking price if not bad of £90 ?

And I don't go anywhere near them just sub it out

They never do it for £90 its "from £90" and thats to unblock a sink. If they touch your manhole cover its £145 +
They are a BG company you didnt think they would ever do anything for a reasonable price?

Muck/brass and all that. Doesn't take ten minutes usually...

I agree. I would reckon about 50% of the blocked sewers jobs I went to have been just a matter of using the sewer rods and sometimes just a few seconds.
But then there are the ones that take hours to clear. Finding the sewer covers is usually the hard part and people do stupid things, like cover them over.
Some older houses have the trap on the underground sewer, (Buchan trap) just before it leaves the property and these block very easy, but are very very easy to clear.
