Draining down central heating system

Hi everyone,

I need to remove 2 rads downstairs permanently (installing electric UFH) so I need to drain the CH system. I think I know how to go about this, the only problem I have is that I cannot locate a drain valve to attach a hose to. There are none on any rads as they are all plastic flexi pipe. The only 2 I can find is 1 above the stopcock on the rising main, and 1 on the pipe running out of the top of the boiler, neither of which i think are the ones!

The house is only 7 years old, so I would have thought they would put one in. It is a conventional boiler i think, and an indirect system (if that means a feed and expansion tank in the loft).

Any suggestions for location of drain valve if its not one of the 2 I've mentioned above? If there are none, can I just remove one of the downstairs rads, attach a hose to one of the valves and open it to drain that way, or is there a better way?

Cheers for any advice you can give

Jimbob

do you have attached garage it might be in there.or if house built by persimion very little chance of there being one

It is an attached garage, yes, which is where the boiler is also. I'll have a double check tonight. I think the house was built by Shepherd's.

Heard bad things about plastic pipework in central heating systems but never had a problem with it before and nowt I can do about it now!

Just a thought and slightly off topic

Metal rads, plastic pipework, to and from the rads, is each and every rad individually cross bonded, back to the incoming earth block

Must look nice to see green and yellow wires hanging off the rads
