Hi there,

Looking for some advice on a Drayton LP522 programmer.

I think I have a problem with my central heating system (Twin Zone Control System) - I have both the HW and CH set on timer for various times of the day to fit in with our lifestyle. When the HW timer comes on the HW is heated as I would expect, however when the CH comes on its also heats the HW. Is this normal?
Can anyone tell me if a Drayton LP522 is capable of switching the CH or HW independently.

I read in the Good Practice Guide 300, that there are different types of programmers:-
Mini Programmer - allows space heating and hot water to be on together, or hot water alone, but not heating alone
Standard programmer - uses the same time settings for space heating and hot water
Full programmer - allows the time settings for space heating and hot water to be fully independent.

This makes me think it is designed to work like this. Hopefully someone can assist.

Have you got 2 motorised valves if so sounds like heating one is letting by. But you may have a gravity hot water pumped heating system and there for the timer has been set up to switch like that because the system pipework wont allow the heating on on its own..

Does the hot water light come on when you select central heating?

There are 2 motorised valves. Single output from boiler branches into two HW and CH, each with motorised valve. I take what you are suggesting is that if the HW valve is not closing fully then the pressure from the CH will allow a flow through the HW valve?

R1cky - No HW light does not come on when the CH timer light comes on.

You got it possibly muck on the h,w valve seating or a weak spring on the motor best to get a new h,water 2 port. Where in the country are you?

I have a similar problem with this timer but when I select the ch advance the hw comes on too dose that mean I have a system with no motorised valves and it heats the water whenever the ch is on?

might be or faulty valve

do you have any of these? normally round/area of your cylinder

Thanks, yes there is a three way one above the pump. When I say the hw comes on with the ch. I mean I can't turn the ch on, on the timer without the hw red light coming on too. If this isn't a quick 1 post answer I will register and start a new topic. Thank you
