We want to change the mirror in the bathroom so I need to drill a new hole through the tiles. The tiles were dotted and dabbed as the walls were slighly uneven - if that makes a difference.

Glazed Porcelain tiles from wickes.

What drill but should I use? I have some odd bits around but thought it's about time I aslo bought a set of drill bits.

Would these do?

I don't think that kit will help you at all with porcelain tiles.

I use the Bosch TCT Glass & Tile drill bits for porcelain tiles.

No water needed, just a medium drill with a bit of pressure.
They don't last very long - maybe 10 holes before they're knackered.

I keep the older ones to go through the back part of the tile.
I start a hole with a new or sharp bit to half depth of the tile and then swap out for an older bit.

I've tried just about every bit available for porcelain tiles, and find these the best - for small holes.

Hope this helps

Having just completed a bathroom and having to drill several holes in porcelain tiles I can honestly say I have tried them all. I even bought the "only ever buy one drill bit set" from the TV and managed to destroy 2 drill bits on 3 holes. I ended up switching to M14 types and this was the answer.
