Dripping Taps driving me mad.

Morning I hope someone can assist as the constant dripping is driving me crazy.
On the image supplied please can someone tell my how to change a washer on these taps?
Surely it must be an easy 5min job.

Firstly, it IS indeed a small quickish job when you have the correct kit.

However, and here comes the bad news, your tap doesn't use washers. It uses what is termed a 'cartridge' and there are approx 5000 in use in British taps. The only way to determine exactly which you have is to remove one and do some accurate measurements. It is impossible, genuinely, to tell from the outside. This is why I invented my product.

If you are a competent DIYer then take a nose at our site where you can buy a small kit to do the job. If not, then on our site (under approved installers) you will find a local plumber with a kit to do it for you.

The tap you have, as I'm sad and recognise it, is actually made of reasonably good brass so is worth keeping. Putting new cartridges in will set it back to perfect working order and mean you can keep it for as long as you wish. The alternative is to throw it away and start afresh.

To get a similar quality of brass you'll be looking at approx £200 just for a tap (the kitchen needs something reasonable as it's used more than ALL the rest put together) plus fitting.

Thanks JC. Pete likes it a lot as does Andy Cam (I love plumbing). Both are extremely experienced engineers who, as yet, have been unable to find 'fault' with it which has pleased me no end

Andy is so enraptured with it, he's promoting it almost 24/7 to everyone and anyone who'll listen! Bless his cotton socks

I think it's fair to say that it's a true 'Professional's solution' so doesn't suit everybody. Some people witter on about it 'looking' complicated, however if you can fit a new diaphragm into a fill valve you can make a cartridge. Those kinds of comments make me despair of both the motivations and general levels of competence in our industry. I suppose lastly, and I must shut up , those who just don't care will never see it as valuable because all they do is a 'job'; we, daft bu66ers, however are genuinely proud of what we do, and how we help people, so we'll be the people proud to carry a case into a customer's kitchen as it clearly says 'Professional' to them when it lands on their counter
