Hi there guys,

I've got a real problem with the plumbing in my house and although I'm sure its very simple to fix, i've no idea about these things so looking for some advice.

Bsically my new house has been a nightmare since we moved in and plumbing being the number one problem. Now we had this problm before but its come back and driving us mad.

Basically what happens is that when you use hot water be it a shower, sink etc, you get this awfull droning noise about 30 seconds after and lasts for a good while, Its coming from the attic so i assume its from the water tank as its not a combi boiler we have.

Now when i got a new boiler fitted 1 year ago, I mentioned this probolem and it took the guy 30 seconds to fix and if I remember correctly he said it was something to do with dirt, but i dont know any more than that.

I've phoned some plumbers today and the soonest any can come out is in two weeks and thats just for a price, but this is driving me mad, and the whole house gets woken at 6am every day whn my wife gets up for a shower.

I'm just wondering if anyone could walk me through what may be the problem and i could maybe give it a bash myself, though bear in mind i dont know have the first clue about plumbing. I'm hoping its easy enough that i dont need to.

Thanks very much.

The float valve on the tank has got a failed washer.

I'm sure there would be a video on YouTube to help you
