Could anyone advise me please. Called out to the above wall heater about a month ago, pilot was lifting and not going across to thermocouple (about one and a half inches). Replaced the pilot assembly and all ok untill today.

This is the heater

Pilot is now really yellow and lifting even more. Have cleaned out flue.

Tenant says she has been getting headaches though battery operated CO alarm has not been sounding. Talked to Drugasar tech they bit baffled but said it could be gas valve or cracked heat exchanger.

Have advised tenant not to use it.

thanks in advance

Is the pilot window cracked & is the seal in place. If tenant complaining of headaches have you checked it with your FGA. have a good look at the flue connection onto the heater a it's a push fit held in place with clamps.

If it's not too late check the heat exchanger is for any cracks + throw in a smoke bomb via sight glass. If no smoke entering the room pretty safe

thanks for replies, customer has gone for replacement fire, will keep all advice in mind for future.

I would nt chuck a smoke bom in personally, if it is leaking POC's it will fill the room, try a smoke match or 2 first, i m lucky as my FGA has a room CO test function. go get an anton :) customer did the right thing by going a new appliance in the end, saved a heacache (excuse the pun!)

I know what you're saying mate but for me you're not going to find cracks in the heat exchanger with a smoke match - for piece of mind I'd rather bung in a bomb and fill a room with smoke than CO - as my company have not splashed out on an all singing all dancing FGA for me yet the tight asses!
