Just got to express my dismay (& let off steam) at those people at City & Guilds who's idea of questions to test 3rd year's are that they should be able to answer these little darlings.
An electrical fire can be caused by a line earth fault not being cleared. The most likely cause of this happening is?
HSE GS 38, requires all test leads to be fused. The fuse rating should be?
& one of my particular favourites (as they won't have done any gas yet)
A flame rectification device is tested using a microammeter connected in series with its output cables. The expected current reading for a steady flame condition should be ?
O & there are lots, lots more of them all written by a plumber ? (I think not) Is it small wonder then that some of them are taking the on-line exam for the 5th time. This is at a time when they are handing out 6129 to 8 week plums. I just makes me mad at just how far apart the two levels are.

Sorry forgot, prizes for all three correct answers, but no asking a friend over on the "dark side" (otherwise known as electrical forum) !!!

The first two are pretty easy Chris, but regarding no 3, I've never tested FR with a meter.
Who cares anyway, just change the PCB!

O' come on mountain don't keep me in suspenders, think of the poor kits waiting to pass there exams, I was hoping for some of the answers at least !!

Interweb wasn't even dream't of when I passed my exams.
There was this ancient method known as reading, studying and understanding

As a side issue, it was reported on the news tonight that the GCSE pass marks had been downgraded in Wales so that more students achieved the A to C grade.
The standards in England however have been maintained as before.

Nothing has been said about Scotland however, as evidently a B grade is awarded for knowing your Fathers name.

(ps, I'm only joking)

Me thinks you may not be Tanz best friend any more !!!
