Elson tank

Are these the same as a normal combination tank but square?

I went to one and the tenant got told there was a valve inside it that has seized and it needs a new tank. I said no it's only got the float valve in it and that was working fine but I suspected it was badly scaled up at the bottom so still needed new tank.

There are several different versions - Emerald, Diamond, Ruby, Pearl, Amethyst etc.

Yes, little header cistern at the top rear. What generally happens, is the sacrificial anode corrodes away to nothing and the bottom of the vessel perforates, end of ELSON. Mostly see these replaced by FORTICS.

Sorry, it has the letters t w a t embedded in it. As in Elson hot water

The forum filter replaces that group of letters with asterisks, and then the link won't work.

Just google "elson tank replacement"
