do any of you fellow plumbs know of anything i can use for a temporary patchup on an unvented cylinder which has pinholed on the seam, trying to think of something so i can get the cust up and running again for few weeks whilst they get some money together for replacement cylinder

I've never tried it but know a many who has , what about a rivet with a piece of tyre inner tuber ?

tried soldering it and wouldnt take, have seen before repair kits like resins and compounds where custs have diy'ed water main leaks and have worked a treat can remember names of them

I was in tesco earlier and they had some plumbers mait stuff which apparently fixed leaks, it's like a putty/resin thing

its only a pin hole not an open end lol

i came across a diy repair few months ago where a cust phoned me to come out to a leaking rising main , couldnt make it at the time so they used some type of bandage and leak repair stuff.months later was asked to come out and repair pipe that i had forgot about .whatever they used was harder than the pipe and reckon the house would have fallen apart before it ever leaked again .

Not sure what they used tho

What about an essex boss would mean completley knackeredif it dont work if its iok you can put a stopend or blanking cap

As suggested, Chemical metal. Has used this for the exactly the same fault and worked for 3 months until the custard could afford to replace.

You can solder stainless if you use a zinc chloride flux like Bakers Fluid No 3 (killed spirits). You can make your own by throwing a bit zinc in some spirits of salt (hydrochloric acid) .Frys flux can work too (the old green stuff) as it contains zinc chloride. The steel has to be spotless tho.
You can also buy a solder paste called Nealetin which you paint on and heat. That leaves a coating of tin which you just solder over.

I've just got rid of my card machine and got a free gizmo called Huddlesbuy. Now can accept card payments again but they don't charge me a hire fee for the machine!

Get one of these (they're free BTW) and get the customer to whack it on the plastic!!

i am on line for one of those.
tell me what you need to set up a direct debit for though, it dont make sense?

Don't do temp repairs as I can't guarantee how long temp is, and if you do them a "favour" and it splits and floods the place what do you think the customer and their insurance company will say, bet its not THANKS
drain it

You just (ignorantly!!) give them your bank details when you register the unit. Takes about ten mins.

I took my first payment with it the other night. Was a bit awkward, as the customer had to 'sign' my iPhone for the transaction to go through. No idea why it didn't ask for his PIN number.

I just hope said amount of money goes through OK!

Transaction was instantly approved so I hope so!

I used to have Streamline machine. Proper singing and dancing one, but it was a fortune.

I have another one of these free thingy's. The other one is called Worldpay (it's made by streamline funnilly enough) but I can't get it to register with the phone. Which is a shame as it's a much better made thing. Looks like a proper card machine.

Anyway, I'm off for a shower and I MUST MUST MUST, do some invoicing after. I'm totally skint after my van fiasco. See y'all later.

ADDISEAL seals anything would laught at a pin hole. It loves leaks especially big holes. I take a tube everywhere don't even use solder now
