Good Morning All,

Complete plumbing novice here, so hopefully my technical speak won't make you chuckle too much!

We have just moved into our new home which has been pretty much renovated over the past few months. We have kept the existing bolier though, which is a few years old, and a Worcester which we were led to believe is a good make. Whilst not large I am told that there shouldn't be any problem running showers through it.

We have noticed an issue with the shower in our en suite, which is a Mira Element BIR, the one where you only have one control lever, which controls on/off and temperature. There is no flow control.

The issue we have is that it is nowhere near hot enough. When the lever is at the top of the temperature scale, it is just about warm.

Here's what we have looked at so far

* Run the kitchen tap, which at full pelt is roughly 16 litres a minute. On full, again the water is warm but not hot though as you reduce the flow the temperature increases
* Adjusted the cold water flow on the boiler. Does not seem to have had any positive impact. Turned it gradually (was expecting a reduction in the flow but nothing happened) up to the point where it switched the water off
*Our plumber has adjusted the manufacturers default temperature with no benefit

Looking at the kitchen tap example it seems to me that the shower is demanding more hot water than the bolier can cope with so the flow needs to be reduced in some way either at the boiler or by installing a valve for instance that reduces the flow. The current flow is more than enough so could be reduced. Alternatively we look to replace the Mira Element BIR for the SLT version with a built in flow control, assuming the built in the wall pipe work can accomodate the new control tap

I would welcome any comments that you may have.

Chris

hi chris welcome to the forums. i've had a look online and found the instructions for adjusting the temperature of your shower.
1 turn the shower on fully and let the temp stabilise.
2 carefully lever off the front cap cover to reveal a small allen screw.
3 remove this screw with a 2.5mm allen key then behind the screw is an adjuster for the hot water.
4 use the allen key to turn the adjuster anticlockwise to increase and clockwise to decrease temperature.
5 when desired temp is reached turn off the shower and refit the hub retaining screw.
6 refit the cover and make sure the shower is at the correct temp. probably doesn't take as long to do as it took to type lol.

Thanks Steveb, is that the commissioning section of the instruction manual? If it is, think the plumber may have already tried that. I looked at the manual and thought that would do the trick!
