Hi. This is my first time on the forum. I get the error message E34 as "the air pressure switch not closing when fan runs" How can i test the switch? Many thanks

If you are sure the fan is running correctly you can check for continuity across the terminals of the APS using a multimeter set
to test resistance.

If you can not or do not want to help on this or any other thread, please just move on to another thread, do not post negative or insulting posts
The public are as welcome on these forums as any tradesman and should be treated politely
Thank you

I worked as a senior engineer for ariston for the last 2 years and E34 is the air pressure switch not making (opening) it can be the air pressure switch that's faulty or more likely all you need to do is take the fan out and remove the restrictor ring from just inside the recouperator.

your advising a diyer to do this?????

no i'm just telling you what's wrong with it. it wouldn't be a very interesting forum if we all just said 'get an engineer in'!!

true but i could have told the op that in my first post,we do strive to stop non qualified members killing them selves/others

the forum is here to help those who seem to be compitent, in my opinion. what's the point in telling a blind person how to wire a plug?

As a professional, I try to weigh up each person's ability before sharing knowledge! But then i have no brownie point to achieve!! :)

so spending your entire life on these forums doesn't count as trying to earn brownie points? this is the first i posted on any forum, i just saw the question and answered it. i'll go be completely irresponsible somewhere else.

kebby04 ... If you are responding to what i posted... hmmmmmmmmm

Your post was very valid ... however the perp did say it was their first post ... erring on the side of caution it may be more appropriate in responding as if they are not knowledgeable unless proven otherwise :)

Just some friendly advice ... your input is valid and acurate all the same :)

I called an expert out after swapping the air pressure switch for a new one, which did nothing, and swapping it back again, blowing the fan with compressed air, which got loads of crud out but didn't cure the fault. He checked the combustion chamber, pressure switch, tubing, took the fan off and cleaned the veins using a spray can of cleaning fluid and about 6 cotton buds. Now I have hot water and rads again.

Anc, the fans were never really upto the job and only last a few years, replace the fan

I'll leave it whilst it's still working but at least I know what the problem will probably be when it packs up again. ;)
