Hi all,

Myself and my wife have moved to a 3 bedroom semi detached house for about a year and we're thinking of replacing the old central heating with a new one pipes and rads included.
What we have is a cylinder boiler in the bathroom inside a closet and a gas boiler in the kitchen. I believe the cylinder is to supply hot water to the taps and the gas boiler is for central heating. I'm not sure if the gas boiler also feeds the cylinder one to keep it toped up. Not sure.
Does anyone know how much this could cost me? I know it's quite a big job with all the pipes replaced and some perhaps repositioned but just haven't got a clue how much it would set me back. Any answers would be apreciated. Thanks all.

It honestly depends on a number of factors. Your best bet is to get a quote from 3/4 local gas registered engineers that do free quotations. The pick the one that you are most comfortable with. Hope you get sorted out.

Hi and welcome along,

Could you tell us where are you based because a lot depends on the location. How many radiators are you looking to replace ? I assume you currently have a system boiler, so the questions is would you like to upgrade your system to a sealed system with just a combination boiler which does your hot water and central heating ?

Hi and thank you for your reply. I live in Lincoln and we have 7 radiators that need replacing. I couldn't tell you what the system is called as i haven't got a slightest clue regarding plumbing. But yea, i would like my cylinder electric boiler removed and get one boiler that does both heating the tap water and the radiators.

A couple of pictures would help 5-6k would be be my costing cheers kop

You have a open vented heating system it looks as though you have had a poor upgrade at sometime the worcester boiler is not a bad boiler and can probably be saved a good tidy up of pipework will be needed and if you have the budget a few other things could be upgraded to get a good local heating engineer in to have a look . cheers kop

Thank you for your answer KoP, much appreciated. Yes, the budget is there and i'm thinking of getting this winter out of the way and comes spring time, i want to get it replaced/upgraded together with a new roof. So all in all i'm looking ato around 5-6k max? Cheers once again
