Just replaced the gas valve in my own Baxi 105e, water in the gas main (incoming) has caused the valve to stick, I believe. Has anyone tried to strip one of these things down, is it even possible to do? Be nice to overhaul it and have it as a spare.

When I was an apprentice that was my way of learning how things worked!!! The engineer I trained with would give components to me to strip down an I had to report back the next day how I thought it worked :)

You use to be able to get the solonoids separate for your valve, the modureg's worth keeping a hold of too IMO :)

EDIT --- Sorry I was wrong it's the Sit valves you can get the solonoids for not the Honywell ... Once stripped down I wouldn't trust it to be gas tight personally!

Fair comment re gas tightness. To be honest, testing the "o"ring joints for leakage on the replacement valve once fitted is very difficult anyway. I might open it anyway, I'm curious that way.

Ive stripped a couple to see how they function but as others have said i wouldnt use them again
