using my boss account againl ong story so here we go. can someone let me know why the expansion vessel is tapped into the cold cause expansion means HEAT which expands so should be on the hot? just struggling to get my head round it thanks very much

Its all open all the way to the check valve mate,

If it was on the hot side the diaphragm get naffed up because of the heat :)

If you think, Backwards from taps there is no "Valve" until you get the the check valve (Just after cold feed take off) to protect it from pushing hot into the cold feed for the cold taps.....

When the pressure is increased within a system via heat or any other method the pressure is not restricted to the point of heat but it is exerted throughout the pipe work (When you pump up a bike tyre/inner tube the whole tyre responds evenly ) So the position of an expansion vessel is not restricted. Heat may be an issue as it was with circulating pumps in days gone bye.
