What is the difference between red and white expansion vessels? Just curious as to why the red cant be used on unvented cylinders?

As the water comes into contact with steel and rusts. Contaminating the water

I went to a unvented cylinder that had a white steel expansion vessel fitted once! It was a solar heating vessel, made from steel & was turning the water brown!!

The red ones are steel no protection on the inside of vessel used for heating only .the white or grey ones have a coating on the inside to prevent them from rusting.
