Just home and out the shower.

Last job this afternoon, fit 2 wetroom laminated glass panels, first one 1900 x 800 x 6mm thick, no problem went in like a charm. Second one 1900 x 500 x 10mm thick. Unpacked it, got it upstairs without touching anything and onto a blanket on the floor. Channel screwed to wall, silicone into channel and channel on floor, pick up panel and offer up to channel. Bang (doesn't do it justice) the bloody thing just explodes in my hands, glass averywhere and cut to bits. Phoned customer who was out to let her know, £360 :censored:, she supplied them.

Anyone had this before? I wouldn't care if I'd clattered it, but I didn't even get it into the channel.

I've just e-mailed the supplier to see what can be done. Played the not impressed and safety (just as well it exploded on me fully dressed and not a kid in the shower) card. I'll see what they come back with.

Did you tap or put pressure on the corner of the glass?

Couple of inches away from the channel when it happened, just lining it up.

This is why I don't like doing bathrooms and will avoid at all times (if I could)

Response received:-
We are very sorry to hear of your incident & pleased you wore appropriate safety equipment.
The screen broke in the correct manner & fulfilled its safety remit.
We are pleased that you had one successful installation. This is an isolated event, as an indicator
we have never lost a screen in the warehouse or on a vehicle either incoming or outgoing.
No glass supplier either in this trade or others ,ie double glazing will guarantee glass owing to its inherent characteristics,
and lack of control over handling en route & final site conditions and circumstances.
If you advise us of the size we will willingly deliver you a replacement at a concessionary cost price.

Not a happy bunny.
