Studying for CCN1 next week. I'm using my NICEIC book going through some old test papers from my foundation course. And Im a bit stumped on this one.

where an extract fan is in the same room as an air brick providing air for combustion?

(a) an additional 50cm2 should be added
(b) the fan must be disconnected
(c) the fan can only blow inwards
(d) an additional 100cm2 should be added

I've read through my book and browsed part J regs also asked my m8 who's gas safe, who gave me an answer which wasn't in the above listing. Any ideas gratefully appreciated.
Cheers RPG

As a general guide add an extra 50cm2 will be sufficent for most situations , but installation should be carefully checked.

From bpec domestic gas safety manual.

Usually, the recommendation is adding 50cm² to offset any room fans etc. Only through testing can this be confirmed. Usually a window is cracked open slightly to simulate for testing purposes.
A poor worded question.
