Went to a large domicile today.

Bloke knew he needed an 837 to run alongside his 31kw boiler which heated his UVHC. The two systems were separate and needed to stay that way.

His u6 gas meter on a 22mm supply wasn't an issue nor was his fully open bypass.

Spent a long time expressing my concerns on the system design. 170m2 underfloor and lots and lots of rads. Heating load is apparently 47kw ish and wondered why house always cold?

I Said he only needed a 630 linked to other system boiler on a LLH giving 61kw max output. 5.67m3/hr
28mm supply 40l external expansion and a 32/120. Think he thought I was taking the pizzle. As two other installers said a 837 would be fine alongside his 31 kW. 6.33m3/hr so not undergassed! But hey might still get job?

What do u do when u have jobs like this? Said I wouldn't be installing an 837. Would do a straight swap on a 630 plus 28mm gas re run. But wasn't responsible or even to be asked about system and why it didn't work..... My contract was a heat unit only if he wanted it and asking as it came on and heated that was end of our responsibility?

Thoughts?

I stand my ground and explain my reasoning. There is no point blinding a customer with numbers and specifics they won't get it. I try to find a common platform we both understand and put it across that way.

Never back down if you've done the math then why put your reputation and understanding on the line.

When it comes to numbers and customer does not understand I know I am
right and the other plumbers were just interest to get the job then I realise this job will be done by somebody else !

Yeh have a feeling I'm not getting the job tbh.

I lost last week one wher customer is doing loft conversion and kitchen ext part of a full refur and they wanted the Vaillant Eco tec pro28 re installed to do 2 showers and 1bath .....
I suggested 24kw system and 250uhwc they insist on large combi .... I said ok but we need new gas pipe ......at the end builder is going ahead with re installing 28kw combi .....
last week lost another one convers job plus boiler new location customer is going to use some one else who is cheaper

I really needed this two jobs , but what can I do .......

Got loads on this week, just really getting annoyed with jobs when your advise is just overlooked. Did a nursery, Andrews water heater and a concord - heating load was reduced to about 50kw and needed zones. Suggested a 40kw combi and a 30kw system on LLH so that the kitchen and basins were fed with water. (1 pot wash 1 hand wash, 1 prep. 3 basins in kids loos with tmv3) so next to no water being used...... Got beaten by under sink electric 5kw jobbie and an open vent system!!!

You only lost a job I lost an entire portfolio today. 200+ houses gone but you can get knotted if you think I'm doing gas safety's for £35 it's one bloke round here and he has taken agents from everyone so I guess he can afford to do it at 35 I personally couldn't do it and earn a wage for the time it takes to complete it correctly.

Shame u can't report that sort of thing. In and out in 10mins. Warm air, fire, cooker and a 7mbar drop on a cheated meter?

I walked into 2 last week in the same street vertex flue in the loft tenants BOTH said you know I've lived here years and no one has ever been up in the loft

errr slightly concerning then I find this
