Hello everyone,

I am a complete newbie on these forums so please bear with me.

My youngest child is due to start school in September and I am looking into the possibility of becoming a female apprentice plumber working alongside my very experienced partner. He has just become self employed and whilst i am helping with his marketing, paper work etc I really would like to get stuck in and get my hands dirty. Does anybody feel that there is a market for female plumbers?

Also question 2, anybody got any great tips on advertising? Mail drops do not appear to be working. Considering leaflets, are they worth the expense? Thank you so much to anybody who replies.

Jo

welcome ladyapprentice . something thats just worked for me and only cost £40 was a 3ft by 2 ft banner, cost me £30 then a tenner to stand the car boot got 6 bookings straight off and pushed loads of cards and flyers out. but to be honest i made my money of the first job so all the others have and will be a bonus

might not work for everyone but hey ho

thanks

What a fantastic idea, I might just give it a go. Give me an excuse to clear out the garage and get to a car boot too! Thank you so much bod.

Hi Ladyapprentice

Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy and feel you can get involved

Good luck with the advertising ,it can be a mine field,do a search, thee are a few threads on the subject
🙂

Hiya. Leaflet drop helped me lots but its patchy, i tried pushing the "no job too small" and it worked well.... little jobs like changing a tap washers often grow into renewing radiators.

Were quite villagey around here and the local free parish publications are by far the best advertising, bigger papers have been a total waste of money. Id imagine every areas different.

Maybe contact womens groups offering your services, wrvs? youll also get to know other mothers when picking your child up so you may get some via that.
Best of luck with it all🙂
