I have a Ferroli DOMI condens that supplies HW to my kitchen sink. I still have my HW tank that you have to turn on to supply HW to the bathroom. I wanted to keep my airing cupboard and as I replaced like for like this is what I ended up with.

I now want to remove the boiler and associated pipework as I want to install kitchen units and the boiler takes up too much space. I had someone in who could not believe I was given the option of keeping the boiler as it defeats the purpose of a Condens. A pipe will have to be fitted under the floorboards from boiler to bathroom which is very close by. (1 bed flat). Access to the loft will be needed to drain the tank??

The quote I was given was ÂŁ500 to ÂŁ800 which after a few ums and errs went up to ÂŁ1000. I was told it should take 11/2 to 2 days. I was thinking it would be half this. Could folks please give me an approx quote that I should expect for a job like this. I live in London SW. (I have attached pics of tank)

Thanks

Hello and welcome along, I would say straightaway that we will not discuss prices in the open forum as there are too many factors involved such as we haven't seen the work involved and each individual company will run at its own profit margin. If their price concerns you then I would get at least two or three more quotes to compare. I am getting a bit confused with your terminology Are you looking at keeping the Combi boiler and getting rid of the cylinder or are you looking at doing away with the Combi boiler and just having the hot water cylinder Word of advice nothing rubs up plumbers and other contractors more than when you tell them how long you think a job should take

I am looking to keep the combi boiler and get rid of the cylinder. The plumber told me it would take 1-1/2 to 2 days. Shame prices can't be discussed, would hope there would be some an average price range for a job description.

Thanks for your reply

We don't know the set up mate. Could be solid floors, could be obstruction in the way of pipe runs. If joists don't run the right way then it's all floor boards up. You could need existing pipework upsizing, there will be work involved in getting the cylinder out and repiping there too. There's too many variables to be even approximate. I'm sure you can understand. If you are in doubt over the figures no one would be offended if you shopped around for figures if they are a pro. Maybe one of our members is nearby. Place an ad here.
