Hi Guys, would appreciate some feedback on a fault I am trying to diagnose on a Ferroli HE Plus 38C please.
I have seen posts already covering some of the issues but I have monitored a particular sequence which may ring some bells?

Sequence starting from the boiler working normally and CH on:
(1) Drawing off Hot Water for a bath is OK (except for the inbuilt temp display shows a constant 14deg, is this correct as it seems to show the ambient incoming water temp? I would have expected the Output Temp).
(2) Stop drawing water immediately displays D1.
(3) After about 30 seconds, the display indicates temperatures greater than 100deg (max of 118 seen!) which slowly drops down.
(4) After a short time the display goes Red and indicates A3.
(5) Pressing the Reset button clears the fault and indicates D2, after a short time boiler then works normally.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum.

If you look further up the page you should see a yellow line/box.
this makes it clear that no advice regarding faults and repair of gas appliances will be discussed in the public forum.
This is clearly to discourage anyone wanting to work illegally on a gas appliance.

If you are a registered engineer, stick around, build up your post count and then get access into the forum for registered installers.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the reply, to put your mind at rest I have no intention of doing any work on the boiler.
Its just that we have had engineers out who either cannot replicate the fault or if they do see it say the only option is to start changing things till it is cured...expensive!
All I want to do is see if anyone has had the exact symptoms and knows what cures it so we can get an engineer in to start by changing that part.

Thanks, Mike

A decent engineer won't change parts until they get it right!

We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers, cookers or ANY gas appliances for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. Providing gas-related advice to anybody who should not be touching gas and cannot prove their competence is unacceptable. We will take whatever action we deem appropriate to prevent such advice being given
