Hi i am a gas safe installer. I am looking to get into the diagnostics side more for when i am older.
So i was called out to a job.

Ferroli modena 102 would not fire up. I took the combustion case off. Here is what i fount

The fan and pump both run.
I attached my u gauge and rougly got a eading of 1.5mb from the fan which is right according to the air pressure switch.

The ignitor sparks but does not light, so there is no gas being released. I assumed as the fan ran at the correct speed but no ignition that it must be the aps??

I checked the venturi and it broke off. I have now changed the venturi, and still no ignition.
When i blow and suck the pressure tubes i can hear the click of the contact being made but nothing fires up still.

Is this the air pressure switch or not? i thought by blowing or sucking it would fire up if it was the aps.

Help please

You need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to www.User PlumbersForums.net Instead - Copy the content, don't link to it.co.uk or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum Micky , please get your post count above ten then PM gasman or redsaw your gsr details so we can help you in the private area of the forum

This plumbing forum will not provide advice to anybody with regards to boiler repairs or any other form of gas plumbing without you first providing us with your Gas Safe Registration number in a thread - for very obvious reasons. If you're not qualified to touch gas, you should stay well clear of trying to!
