Hi all, when you fill a system its to my little knowledge, that you start downstairs rads first.
So is it best to close one side of each rad seperately, anyside if you don,t no which is the flow and return?
Then bleed the rad and then open the chosen valve, then move to the next one and do the same, then do the same upstairs?
Also is it good practice to put the filling loop on the flow pipe?
Many thanks.:blush5:

If i was filling a brand new system it would be
1. Close all F&R radiator valves
2. Slowly crack open the QFL(fill loop)
3. Once it is filling(only slightly open) check all pipework
4. Once your sure no air is hissing out anywhere (indicating possible leakage) open QFL slightly more
5. Start, one by one to open trv's and vent radiators till you get water out them and there's no leaks, then move onto next radiator
6. After all radiators are filled, vented and both F&R valves are open, check system again
7. Top pressure up to 1Bar(or desired pressure is sealed system) and check system again

Oh and fill loop usually connects into the return ;)

Thanks jase, is that for the filling loop on the flow or filling up in general?
I keep gettin air in me systems.

Thanks chappy.
On no.5 does it mean open trv and then bleed rad, and then open other valve on same rad, then move on?

Whats the advantage, connecting the filling loop in the return please?:blush5:

Filling loop.on return. Its cooler. Less impact on the valves.

As for filling, everything wide open. Start at lowest point and work up. Bang the beat on and put right any issues.

I can feel me head cavin in lol.
Any common practice? or each to their own?

Always filling loop on the return, return temp is cooler so the mixing water dosnt effect anything,

I thought the whole cold feed in return was with the expansion vessel on a sealed system set up to ensure the system is under positive pressure... Surely a fill loop could go into a flow or return below the boiler as its only a fill point, nothing more...?

That sounds like a good enough reason, have mused upon it for years but its in mi's can do reverse flush through return with mains ?
