putting together a marble fire surround,i was surprised to see no fixings at all,is this normal.i have the two pillars a cross piece and a mantel, and looking at it they stand freely, rest on each other, i mean how you suppose to secure it to the wall and surely the mantel must need secured anyone done one, advice needed.

tile addisive , normally the side pilers have concealed fixings

honestly, mate,it seems the only option, but all i've got is 15mm x 1m + high to stick to the wall, and it's got to look right

i take it you have the 4 panel set up theres always wall fixings welded to the up rights sounds like you have a faulty set, speak to the supplier or manufacturer the tile addisive gives it strength but the wall fixings stop it falling apart, there has been a incident were a marble panel fell down and killed a child somewhere in the uk so i think your very right to be cautious

yeah i'm sure your right, i am phoneing the supplier tomorrow.

is the opening in the wall the same size as the opening in the marble back?

can you not drill some fixing holes in the marble behind the mantle uprights a couple of 4" screws would hold it
