I need to find a pair of decent quality pillar taps for my local chip shop, the existing pair have had numerous new washers (fitted by myself) over the last year but every few months I get the call that one or both taps are running and the washers are spit. I'm sure somebody is tightening them down too tight or something but we've decided to put some new taps on.

Does anybody know of a pair of decent taps that will be up to the job, I don't really do commercial and don't want any nasty ones that will fail me after 6 months of heavy use.

I do have a set of PTS Tradesave ones but wonder if they are robust enough for a proper working kitchen.

Would quarter turn taps be a better option? Plumb Centre's trade price guide has a good selection of light commercial stuff that wouldn't look out of plaice in a chip shop.

Lever action bib taps might be a solution, or self closing ones.

Buwahahahaha! Very good. Just wanted you to know that joke hadn't slipped through the net.

I used to use pegler bib taps and upstands in a commercial kitchen. Nice and robust and you don't need to crawl about under the sink if you need to change them.

Not sure about ceramic disc, there seems to be a lot of grit in the water around here that scratches them and causes drips.
Thanks for replies.

sounds like you might need to re seat the taps, but if they are happy to replace fully then go with some 1/4 turn with a guarantee on them
