Fitting a wall hung WC through a double skin brick wall. Anyone ever tried it?

I am proposing to do this for a ground floor domestic install that will allow a concealed cistern to be offset from the WC in an old window void that will be plated over (insulation will be installed and access panel to the cistern goes without saying) - so all I will need is the depth of the flush pipe to frame out beyond before fixing the WC.

I have SS threaded rod that is long enough to go through the double skin + roughcast + framing behind the WC - that will still be able to fit through the pan.

If it is bolted outside and protected from the elements until an extension is built that will mean the outside wall becomes internal and will be dry lined - would you feel confident leaving your customer with this method of securing a wall-hung toilet?

Had to bolt one all the way through the wall years ago the internal wall was no good for fixings was rendered outside though so hid bolts/washers in that. Was nice and secure after that had the 20st chippy sit on it

I thought as much - thanks Sir. how did you pack it out on the inside to provide space/sufficient gap for the flush pipe? I was going to use timber battons as thick as the flush pipe as a stabalising 'shim' arrangement behind the final finish - which will be 1/2" ply tiled over.

Obviously you know about the purpose built frames but in your situation it seems they wouldn't suit.

Make sure the threaded rods are surrounded by battens so when you tighten the nuts it will compress against wood and not fresh air.

Also never tile on ply walls unless you want problems, best use green plasterboard or Aquapanel.

That was my intention Phil - good advice re the tiles - well received Sir. Thanks.

The only other problem i have now is that the outlet goes straight through the wall to outside and runs at the usual fall - so bringing the wall hung WC back closer to the wall will mean it is slightly lower than you would normally hang it. I will use an offset pan connector of course - but the outlet is already low and I dont want to start destroying brickwork if I can avoid it - plus it as a really well caulked connection in to a cast iron down pipe hard against the roughcast.

How low have you guys fitted a wall hung WC?
