I want to fit a new towel rail in place of radiator in bathroom. I have a Combi Boiler system.
I have closed off both valves on radiator and removed radiator from wall. With the radiator off I opened both valves but no water came out of either. Is this normal with a Combi boiler and how do I get the water to come back when I have fitted the towel rail. Thanks

not really pal as its a sealed pressurised system when you open a valve it should piddle like a racehorse.

if as you say you have a combi boiler you should check the pressure guage on the front of the boiler. ideally you should be looking at 1-1.5 bar. some models dont have numbers but a coloured area usually green which indicates where the needle should point. if your needle is on the low side you need to repressurise the system via the filling loop. if you dont know how check your manual. if you dont have a manual download it online

oh and when your done you need to bleed the radiators to get the air out. when you have done this check the pressure again.

Then, because you've more than likely not taken a note of how far open your lockshield was, you're going to have to rebalance the system.....

Oh please Croppie post your balancing thingy-magig again please please :hand: anyway the pressure drop in the new thingy will be different so he will need your datasheet.

Here y'go.

I fitted a towel radiator and unfortunately there was a tiny leak, not discovered until after all holes to mount it had been drilled through tiles.
The replacement radiator's flanged mounts had their holes in a different position, requiring holes to be filled or tiles replaced :-(

So now I would fit the rad and pressure test it before drilling any holes.

Did the towel rail ever work? It seems like either the valves are stuck closed or there is a blockage in the pipe work, thats assuming that you have enough pressure in your system?
