Hello there,

Another plumbing conundrum for you to set your minds to.

My mates have just bought a house and the lovely sellers have left the heating/hot water in a pretty naff state.

The system is a 2x 2 port system.
The boiler is an old Potterson Netaheat mk2.
The programmer is a Boss therm BUP2.
The Room stat is a Boss therm BRTmk2.
The 2x 2 port valves are boss therm bzv222

The pump was broken but the previous owners had obviously deduced this as they had bought a new one Which I fitted.
Both 2 port valves are also busted and the previous owners had bought two new actuators (which were the wrong ones and didn't fit the valves!). I reckoned they'd tried to install them themselves and think they've messed up the wiring. Neither of the actuators move when I turn the heating/hot water on and off

So my question is, does anyone know where I can find the installation instructions for both the programmer and room stat and importantly a wiring diagram for the junction box in order to work out what's been changed?

Also anyone got any suggestions for testing whether the 'signal' is getting through from the programmer and room stat to the boiler?

Cheers!

Pay an engineer and shadow him :)
a quick google and you can get everything for yourself :)

hey if you want to be a plumber, most of its eorking out for yourself!

google how to use a multi meter too.

Get youself on the honeywell wiring course, its great. The stuff you learn can be applied to all sorts of stuff

If the controls are in a poor state I would be concerned about the boiler if maintenance hasn't been carried out.

Potterton Netaheat mk2 uses positive case Pressure, if the case seals have failed or not installed correctly it becomes lethal to the occupants of the house.

Sort the controls but have the boiler checked by a GSR before turning it back on.

Not been rude mate, but if you need to ask how to test if there is a signal coming from the zone valve. Should you be attempting to sort the wiring?
get a good sparky in and he will sort it in no time.
ps if you have a go and short out the circuit board in a netaheat. Good luck as they are like rocking horse ****.

You will need to find out what is live and what isnt mate and that will need a circuit tester/multimeter

Honeywell Y-Plan Explanation
this is helpful, shows what current is going where

I'm not familiar with boss controls, but most brands put a diagram on the back of their controls so you know which is common, switch, live neutral etc

If you have some electrical knowledge you may attempt a fix. I YOU HAVE NONE GET AN EXPERT IN. I any event it looks like you are going to disconnect everything except the Blues and green/yellows and trace each wire to see where you are.

I'd be careful on the blues and yellows...as have put multimeter on before and had 230V.....builders!!!!

Thanks for all the info and links very helpful. I'll pass the info onto my friends electrician so he can check it.
